[How it mattered to us, how it matteres to me & the consequences]

48 hours left before due,
But it doesn’t seem that long since it started.
Atrocities of education got us preoccupied,
Fiery textbook facts got our brains scalded.
It felt more like a hassle then a blessing,
This isn’t right, so not right.

Then comes them temptations, calling out our names
& that aroma sifting through the air
Or the touch of the index on naked skin
We had the chance fight to them back
But we gave our minimal strength,
Only to cave in with the optimum enthusiasm.

So it’s probably a little too late,
Cos its burning flame is almost out
Oxygen’s getting scarse, or maybe
We’re a little too oblivious.
These 30 days don’t come by so often,
Neither do they stay for too long.

We question ourselves time and again,
As to what we’d reap when this ends.
To some of us, we celebrate the end with smiles,
A chain of forgiveness & a sprinkle of new hopes.
To others, it’s just another day to be doused in new clothes,
Resisting every urge to scratch underneath them itchy fabric.

There’s only so much left to be saved,
& so little lasts to pull off.
I wasted it all this time around.
Now I need to get back in line for my next ticket,
To another Ramadhan, & hopefully see my aura finally shine.

It's past twelve, tonight's gone
Rub those eyes open, it's almost dawn.
